Big Water Tanks

Above a few thousand litres, water storage stops being a product you buy and starts being an engineering problem. A one-piece tank cannot be transported or manoeuvred into position. A welded steel tank needs specialist fabrication, heavy lifting and an internal coating that will eventually fail. Concrete requires formwork, rebar and a curing period measured in weeks.

A modular panel tank removes all of those constraints. The tank is delivered as flat panels, carried to the installation point by hand, and bolted together on site with galvanized fasteners and EPDM seals. Individual panels are light enough for manual handling, so a tank with a capacity in the thousands of cubic metres can be assembled without a crane and without ever having a large opening in the building.

Panel thickness increases with tank height and water depth, from around 8mm on smaller tanks up to 16mm for the largest, with external C-channel or I-beam reinforcement above four metres of height.
