Industrial storage asks one thing of a tank again and again: stay intact. Steel rusts from the inside where nobody can see it. Concrete porously absorbs what it stores. A fiberglass storage tank avoids both problems because its wall is a fused composite of glass reinforcement and resin – the same material all the way through, inside and out, with nothing to flake, rust or leach.

The shell is produced by computer-controlled filament winding, which places glass fibres under tension in the exact pattern the stress analysis calls for. The result is a tank that weighs a quarter of its steel equivalent yet carries the same loads, and a smooth gelcoat-lined interior that wipes clean and does not support algae or biofilm.
