Horizontal FRP Storage Tank for Industrial Applications

A horizontal FRP storage tank rides on engineered saddle supports, keeping its centre of gravity low and its installation simple. The filament-wound shell handles road transport and site handling as well as it handles storage duty, making it the natural choice for mobile plants and skid systems.

Capacities from 0.5 to 100 m3 in diameters up to DN4000, with dished or flat heads, chemical-duty liners and complete saddle sets. Delivered ready to set on the foundation and connect.

Horizontal FRP Storage Tank

Some installations want the tank lying down. Low headroom, roof-mounted plant, skid-mounted process units, transportable storage and sites where wind loading rules out tall vessels – in all of these the horizontal FRP storage tank is the practical form. The wound shell runs on two engineered saddles that spread the filled weight into the foundation, and the composite wall carries the bending loads the saddles introduce.

Because the tank is complete when it leaves the factory, installation is a crane lift and a bolt-down. There is no site winding, no coating to cure, no welding inspection. For temporary plants and contractor water systems the tank can even be lifted again and moved to the next site, something a welded steel tank never allows without full recoating.

FAQ

Q1: When is a horizontal tank the better choice?
A: When height or wind is the constraint, or when the tank belongs to a skid or mobile plant. Horizontal shells also suit sites that may relocate the tank later, since no disassembly is involved.

Q2: Do the saddles come with the tank?
A: Yes. Saddles are engineered for the filled weight, the site seismic data and the foundation type, and are supplied fitted or matched for site fitting.

Q3: Can a horizontal tank be pressurised?
A: Modest pressure duty is possible with dished heads and an appropriate winding schedule. Send the required pressure and we confirm the design envelope.

Q4: How does drainage work without a cone bottom?
A: A slight fall to the outlet nozzle plus a low-point drain clears the tank almost completely. Where total drain-down matters, a small bottom slope is built into the shell at manufacture.

Q5: What is the largest horizontal tank you build?
A: Around 100 m3 within a single transportable unit. Larger volumes are better served by vertical or site-erected construction, which we also produce.
